Dear Lava Lamps,

You were one amazing creation by Craven-Walker,
so full of substance and illuminated with colour.

Sometimes you get so heated on the surface,
that you don’t really know your place.

The way those salacious waxes dance and arise,
kept thousands of people worldwide mesmerised.

One of them so hooked
he wanted you cooked —
Vengeful you, merely left a shard
through his curious little heart.

When the lights go out and the stage is cleared of props,
You fall into that same spot, lazed in a complete blob.

Probably then you’d realise
why in some of our eyes
you can’t be a terrific source of light.

Some things are nice to look at – just not very bright.
